Photo retention
How long originals and edits are kept, and what happens when a job is archived.
While a job is active or delivered
Everything is kept: originals, the working copies, every version each model returned, the approved versions and the last export. You can delete a photo, a set or a whole job at any time and its files are removed from disk immediately.
When a job is archived
Delivered jobs archive themselves 30 days after delivery, or you can archive them yourself. After the retention period set in Settings (90 days by default; 0 keeps everything), archived jobs are purged:
- Deleted: the full-resolution originals, every edited version you did not approve, and the export folder.
- Kept: the 2K working copy of each photo and the version you approved, so the job still opens and can still be saved again at working size.
Once purged, originals cannot be recovered from batchlook. Keep your own archive of the camera files, as you already do.
Backups
The job index is backed up daily and backups are kept for 30 days. Photo files themselves are not duplicated beyond the server's own storage.
Model providers
Photos sent to Google or OpenAI for an edit are subject to their API retention policies, typically up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and not used for training on paid tiers. See privacy.
